Choose realistic assumptions
Time a small sample of responses, including straightforward and more demanding answers. Include the time you spend checking the rubric, discussing judgement with colleagues and preparing feedback.
Use one consistent period, such as a term. If different classes have different assessment loads, calculate them separately. Estimates are a planning aid; they are not a product performance or time-saving claim.
Compare a change you can explain
The alternative minutes field lets you model a different task length, marking guide or workflow. Keep the same number of submissions so you can see the effect of that one change. A lower number does not establish that feedback quality will be maintained.
